What are full mouth dental implants?
Full mouth dental implants (also called full-arch implants or implant-supported fixed teeth) replace an entire upper and/or lower set of teeth with a fixed bridge that is attached to a small number of implants — commonly four to six per arch, depending on bone and bite.
Unlike a conventional denture, the bridge is not removed by the patient for daily cleaning. It is designed as part of a full-mouth rehabilitation plan that considers your bite, facial support, speech and long-term maintenance.

Common reasons patients seek full mouth dental implants
- Most or all teeth are missing in one or both jaws
- Many teeth are loose, broken or badly decayed
- A removable denture feels loose, uncomfortable or affects eating
- Advanced gum disease has made the remaining teeth unreliable
- A wish for fixed teeth instead of a removable appliance
Who may benefit?
- Adults with sufficient bone in the right areas, or who are suitable for grafting or angled implant techniques
- Patients with stable general health who can undergo oral surgery
- People committed to careful cleaning and regular reviews
- Patients who have discussed alternatives (implant-retained dentures, conventional dentures) and their trade-offs
Only a dental examination can confirm whether this treatment is right for you.
How the treatment is evaluated and performed
- Detailed consultationMedical history, examination of remaining teeth and gums, bite and facial assessment.
- 3D imaging & digital planningA CBCT scan and records help decide the number and position of implants.
- Extractions & implant surgeryNon-restorable teeth are removed and implants placed, often in a single surgical visit.
- Temporary fixed teeth (if suitable)Where implant stability allows, a provisional fixed bridge may be fitted within days of surgery.
- Healing periodThe bone integrates with the implants over the following months.
- Final bridge & maintenanceA definitive bridge is made and fitted, followed by scheduled professional maintenance.
Consultation and diagnostic process
A full-arch plan normally requires a CBCT scan, photographs, impressions or digital scans and a bite assessment. Blood tests or a physician's input may be requested depending on your health. This is what allows your dentist to say whether immediate fixed teeth are possible for you.
General recovery and aftercare
- Follow a soft diet for the period your dentist advises, especially while wearing temporary teeth
- Clean around the bridge with the brushes, floss or water flosser recommended to you
- Avoid smoking and very hard foods
- Attend all reviews; the bridge may be removed periodically by the clinic for professional cleaning
Your dentist will provide aftercare instructions specific to your treatment. Clinic to review aftercare text
Potential risks and limitations
- Surgical risks such as swelling, bruising, infection or bleeding
- Implant failure, which may need re-treatment
- Fracture or wear of the bridge material over time
- Speech or bite adjustment period with new teeth
- Not every patient is suitable for immediate fixed teeth; some need a staged approach
Your dentist will discuss risks, benefits and alternatives with you before you consent to treatment.
Treatment cost guidance
Dental One G is currently running a Full Mouth Dental Implant package (see below). The final cost depends on the number of implants, grafting, the bridge material and whether one or both arches are treated — confirmed in writing after assessment.
Frequently asked questions
Can I really get fixed teeth in about 5 days?
For some suitable cases, a provisional fixed bridge can be fitted within a few days of implant surgery. This depends on bone quality, implant stability at surgery and the clinician's judgement. Many patients need a staged plan instead. Your dentist will tell you which approach suits you after assessment.
How many implants are needed for a full arch?
Commonly four to six implants per arch, but the number depends on bone, bite forces and the type of bridge planned.
Are full mouth implants better than dentures?
Implant-supported fixed teeth are generally more stable than removable dentures, but they involve surgery, a higher cost and ongoing maintenance. Implant-retained dentures and conventional dentures remain valid options. We will help you compare.
